"The Luminaries" is an adventure drama series directed by Claire McCarthy based on Eleanor Catton's novel of the same name.

Set in the midst of New Zealand's 1860's gold rush period, the show follows Walter Moody, a prospector who travels to the fledgling West Coast settlement of Hokitika to try to make his fortune on nearby goldfields. Instead, he stumbles into a tense meeting between twelve local men, and is drawn into a complex mystery that is covering up a series of unsolved crimes.

The cast features Eva Green, Eve Hewson, Himsesh Patel, Ewen Leslie, Marton Csokas, Erik Thomson, Callan Mulvey and Benedict Hardie.

"The Luminaries" premiered in New Zealand on TVNZ 1 on May 17, 2020, and in the UK on BBC One on June 21, 2020. In the U.S. it premiered on February 14, 2021 on Starz.
