"Shirley" is a biographical drama directed by Josephine Decker ("Madeline's Madeline") from a script by Sarah Gubbins ("I Love Dick", "Better Things") based on the novel of the same name by Susan Scarf Merrell.

Executive produced by Martin Scorsese, the film follows a young couple (played by Logan Lerman and Odessa Young) that moves in with famous horror writer Shirley Jackson (Elisabeth Moss) and her Bennington College professor-husband, Stanley Hyman (Michael Stuhlbarg), in the hopes of starting a new life. Instead, they find themselves fodder for a psycho-drama that inspires Jackson's next major novel.

"Shirley" premiered at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival, where it won the U.S. Dramatic Special Jury Award for Auteur Filmmaking. It was released on June 5, 2020 via streaming.
