"Weathering with You" is a new anime romantic fantasy film written and directed by Makoto Shinkai ("The Garden of Words", "Your Name."). The film tells the story of a high-school boy who runs away to Tokyo and befriends an orphan girl who has the ability to manipulate the weather. The film has received four Annie Awards nominations, and it's tied with "Spirited Away" and "Millennium Actress" as the most nominated anime at the Annies.

"Weathering with You" was released on July 19, 2019 in Japan, and received a limited release in the U.S. on January 15, 2020.

"The summer of his high school freshman year, Hodaka runs away from his remote island home to Tokyo, and quickly finds himself pushed to his financial and personal limits. The weather is unusually gloomy and rainy every day, as if to suggest his future. He lives his days in isolation, but finally finds work as a writer for a mysterious occult magazine. Then one day, Hodaka meets Hina on a busy street corner. This bright and strong-willed girl possesses a strange and wonderful ability: the power to stop the rain and clear the sky... "
