"Richard Jewell" is a biopic directed by Clint Eastwood from a script written by Billy Ray ("Captain Phillips", "State of Play") based on the 1997 article "American Nightmare: The Ballad of Richard Jewell" by Marie Brenner.

The film tells the true story of the titular protagonist, played by Paul Walter Hauser ("BlacKkKlansman", "I, Tonya"), a security guard at AT&T who saves thousands of lives from an exploding bomb at the 1996 Centennial Olympic Park bombing. However, when the FBI wrongly identified him as one of many suspects, he is vilified by journalists and the press, and his life is ripped apart. The cast also includes Sam Rockwell, Kathy Bates, Olivia Wilde and Jon Hamm.

"Richard Jewell" opened in theaters on December 13, 2019.
