"Captain Marvel" is the 21st installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film is written and directed by "Half Nelson" and "Mississippi Grind" filmmakers Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, and it reveals the origin story of the titular character, Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), as she becomes one of the universe's most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. The film also stars Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Jude Law, Djimon Hounsou, Gemma Chan, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Clark Gregg and Annette Bening.

"Captain Marvel" opened in theaters on March 8, 2019 and received mostly positive reviews from critics.
