Based on Lawrence Wright's non-fiction book "The Looming Tower: Al-Qaeda and the Road to 9/11", the 10-part miniseries "The Looming Tower" chronicles the rise of Osama bin Laden and takes a controversial look at how the rivalry between the CIA and FBI inadvertently might have set the stage for the tragedy of 9/11 and the war in Iraq.

The series is written and executive produced by Dan Futterman ("Foxcatcher", "Capote") and it stars Tahar Rahim, Alec Baldwin, Peter Sarsgaard, Michael Stuhlbarg, Bill Camp and Jeff Daniels.

"The Looming Tower" premiered today, February 28, 2018, on Hulu. The show received a positive critical reception and it has been reported that if it proves successful enough, Hulu might order a sequel series which could focus on the birth of the Muslim Brotherhood.

"Based on the Pulitzer-Prize winning book, The Looming Tower traces the rising threat of Osama Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda in the late 1990s and how the rivalry between the FBI and CIA during that time may have inadvertently set the path for the tragedy of 9/11. The series follows members of the I-49 Squad in New York and Alec Station in Washington, D.C., the counter-terrorism divisions of the FBI and CIA, respectively, as they travel the world fighting for ownership of information while seemingly working toward the same goal - trying to prevent an imminent attack on U.S. soil."
