The religious drama "Risen" opens today in theaters, so here are the official trailer, four featurettes and clips, a few images and a poster.
The film stars Joseph Fiennes ("Shakespeare in Love") as Clavius, a powerful Roman Military Tribune who is tasked with solving the mystery of what happened to Jesus in the weeks following the crucifixion, in order to disprove the rumors of a risen Messiah and prevent an uprising in Jerusalem.
Although reviews for the film have been far from stellar, they are nonetheless much better than the critical reception that "Son of God" received in 2014. Most of the praise was directed towards Fiennes performance and the ambitious intentions that raise it slightly above the usual faith-based fare, even though considering previous entries in the genre, that might not be saying much.
Directed by Kevin Reynolds ("The Count of Monte Cristo", "Waterworld"), the film also stars Tom Felton, Peter Firth, Cliff Curtis, María Botto and Antonio Gil.

Official Synopsis
"The first forty days after the Resurrection of Jesus Christ is told through the eyes of an agnostic Roman Centurion charged by Pontius Pilate to investigate rumors of a risen Jewish Messiah and locate the missing deceased body of Jesus of Nazareth in order to subdue an imminent uprising in Jerusalem. During Centurion's mission, his doubts of such a supernatural occurrence peel away as he encounters the Apostles and other historic biblical characters and bears witness to the legendary storied events that followed the Resurrection. A great mystery unfolds during Centurion's quest to find the body and he is deeply affected by his first-person investigation, as his previous beliefs on the matter are forever altered based on what he's now witnessed."
