The drama "Beyond the Lights" opens in theaters today, so here are a trailer and four clips for the film. Like a modern version of "The Bodyguard", the film tells the story of Noni (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), the music world's latest superstar, who is having a hard time coping with the pressures of fame, until she meets Kaz (Nate Parker), a young cop assigned to her security detail. Noni and Kaz eventually fall for each other and Kaz's love gives Noni the courage to find her own voice and break free to become the artist she was meant to be. The formula is definitely an old one, but so far the reviews are mostly positive with strong praise directed towards Mbatha-Raw's performance as well as writer/director Gina Prince-Bythewood's firm grasp on the project which could have devolved into a cheesy mess. The film also stars Minnie Driver, Danny Glover, Darryl Stephens and Benito Martinez.

"Beyond the Lights is the story of Noni, the music world's latest superstar. But not all is what it seems, and the pressures of fame have Noni on the edge - until she meets Kaz Nicol, a young cop and aspiring politician who's been assigned to her detail. Drawn to each other, Noni and Kaz fall fast and hard, despite the protests of those around them who urge them to put their career ambitions ahead of their romance. But it is ultimately Kaz's love that gives Noni the courage to find her own voice and break free to become the artist she was meant to be."
