Kate Beckinsale to Star in Ghost Thriller THE DISAPPOINTMENTS ROOM

Kate Beckinsale
Kate Beckinsale ("Underworld") will star in the psychological thriller "The Disappointment Room" which will be directed by D.J. Caruso ("Disturbia") for Relativity. The studio recently closed the deal to fully finance the film.

The story is said to be in the vein of "The Shining" and it's inspired by a true event. Beckinsale will play a woman who moves into a beautiful new rural house together with her husband and their 5-year-old son. When she discovers the long lost key to a hidden room in the attic, it triggers a series of frightening events which reveal that her past is tied with the house's dark history.

So, yes, it's a ghost story. But, there's a chance this will be a really cool ghost story, because the screenplay is written by Wentworth Miller ("Prison Break"), who also wrote "Stoker", another genuinely creepy psychological drama.

Filming is expected to begin next month. In the meantime, Kate Beckinsale can also be seen this year in Michael Winterbottom's drama "The Face of An Angel", Brad Anderson's thriller "Eliza Graves" and Terry Jones' comedy "Absolutely Nothing".
