It was first announced last year that there would be a remake of the 1990 thriller "Flatliners" directed by Joel Schumacher. For those of you who have had no contact with the film, it told the story of a group of medical students who find a way to explore the afterlife by inducing clinical death only to realize that they've brought something back with them. "Flatliners" starred a young cast of stars, Kevin Bacon, Julia Roberts, Kiefer Sutherland, Oliver Platt and William Baldwin, and benefited from Schumacher's stylish direction and some very atmospheric cinematography.
The latest news announce that the remake may have found a director. Niels Arden Oplev, director of the original "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" trilogy, has been attached to direct the film. Sony Pictures has also hired "Source Code" screenwriter Ben Ripley to pen the script.
