In Theaters : THE DARKEST HOUR (2011)

Official Synopsis : The Darkest Hour is the story of five young people who find themselves stranded in Moscow, fighting to survive in the wake of a devastating alien attack. The 3D thriller highlights the classic beauty of Moscow alongside mind-blowing special effects.

Genre: Sci-Fi, Action

What to Expect : Not much. It's just a mediocre alien invasion flick. A step down in Emile Hirsch's career and yet another Timur Bekmambetov-produced fiasco (see "Apollo 18").

Critical Response : Negative. A quick look at the reviews for this movie indicate that "The Darkest Hour" is probably a solid contender for "Worst Movie of 2011". Flat, boring characters, a predictable and uninteresting story and the pointless decision to use Moscow locations (which are poorly used) are the factors that determined critics to award some horribly low scores. Rated 15% on Rottentomatoes.com from 3 positive and 17 negative reviews (average score 2.8 out of 10)

More Details :

  • Screenplay : Jon Spaihts ("Prometheus"), Leslie Bohem ("Dante's Peak", "Daylight").

  • Running Time : 89 min.

  • Rating : PG-13 for sci-fi action violence and some language.
