Official Synopsis : Shot in a vérité style, TrollHunter is the story of a group of Norwegian film students that set out to capture real-life trolls on camera after learning their existence has been covered up for years by a government conspiracy. A thrilling and wildly entertaining film, TrollHunter delivers truly fantastic images of giant trolls wreaking havoc on the countryside, with darkly funny adherence to the original Norwegian folklore." -- (C) Official Site
What to Expect : A slick and fun twist on the cam-corder genre. Replace the nasty Blair witch or the thumping paranormal activity with three-headed trolls and you get a pretty accurate picture about this movie. If this sounds too weird for your taste...you're probably right.
Critical Response : Mixed to positive. Frank Lovece of the Film Journal International said that the movie is the " The Blair Witch Project, with trolls: Deadpan, dead-on Norwegian mockumentary is destined to be a classic of its kind.". Geoff Berkshire of Metromix.com comments that despite being a small movie "it's full of good humor, clever ideas and a handful of solid suspense sequences." and Bill Gibron of Filmcritic.com called it "90 minutes of jolly giant ogre mayhem". On the darker critical spectrum, Joe Neumaier of the New York Daily News bitterly remarks that "This is what happens when the Norwegians try to make their own "Blair Witch Project": We get three-headed trolls that hate Vitamin D and references to "Deliverance." The limited release is 74% fresh on Rottentomatoes.com, with 23 positive reviews and 8 negative.
