"The Nun" is the latest spinoff in the horror franchise "The Conjuring". Directed by Corin Hardy ("The Hallow"), the film focuses on a character introduced in "The Conjuring 2", the demonic nun Valak (Bonnie Aarons). Set in 1952 in a Romanian monastery, the plot follows a young novitiate (Taissa Farmiga) and a priest (Demian Bichir) with a haunted past, who are sent by the Vatican to investigate a series of mysterious deaths at the abbey. Charlotte Hope, Ingrid Bisu, Jona Bloquet and Michael Smiley co-star.

"The Nun" opened in theaters on September 7, 2018 and received mixed-to-negative reviews from critics. The film is expected to set an opening weekend record for "The Conjuring" franchise with around $45 million from 3,876 theaters.

"When a young nun at a cloistered abbey in Romania takes her own life, a priest with a haunted past and a novitiate on the threshold of her final vows are sent by the Vatican to investigate. Together they uncover the order's unholy secret.
