Written and directed by Samuel Maoz, the Israeli drama "Foxtrot" follows a troubled couple who must come to terms with the death of their son, who was a soldier at a desolate military post. The film stars Lior Ashkenazi, Sarah Adler, Yonaton Shiray and Shira Haas.

"Foxtrot" won the Grand Jury Prize Silver Lion at the 2017 Venice Film Festival. It also made the December shortlist for the Best Foreign Language Film award at the 90th Academy Awards, but ultimately did not receive a nomination. The film sparked some controversy in its depiction of Israeli military, leading to the denouncement of the film by Israel's Minister of Culture.

The film received a limited release in theaters on March 2, 2018 in the U.S.

"Michael and Dafna experience gut-wrenching grief when army officials show up at their home to announce the death of their son Jonathan. Michael becomes increasingly frustrated by overzealous mourning relatives and well-meaning army bureaucrats.
