Mel Gibson returns to the director's chair with the war drama "Hacksaw Ridge". The film tells the true story of Desmond T. Doss, played by Andrew Garfield, a WWII conscientious objector whose religious beliefs as a Seventh-day Adventist prevented him from killing anyone in battle. Doss went to war as a medic and ended up saving 75 men in Okinawa during the most savage battle of the war without firing a single bullet. For his heroic deeds he was awarded the Medal of Honor.

The film also stars Teresa Palmer, Sam Worthington, Luke Bracey, Vince Vaughn, Hugo Weaving, Rachel Griffiths and Richard Roxburgh.

"Hacksaw Ridge" is set to open in theaters on November 4th.

He believed the war was just, but killing was nevertheless wrong; he was the only American soldier in WWII to fight on the front lines without a weapon. As an army medic, Doss single-handedly evacuated the wounded from behind enemy lines, braved fire while tending to soldiers and was wounded by a grenade and hit by snipers. He was the first conscientious objector to ever earn the Congressional Medal of Honor."
