GHOSTBUSTERS (2016) - New Trailer and Featurette

ghostbusters-2016-new-trailer-and-featurette

Sony has released a new trailer for the upcoming "Ghostbusters" reboot, and a new character featurette. The trailer was initially released on Facebook only, probably with the intention to avoid fans reacting negatively, as was the case with the first trailer. Unfortunately, as the trailer started making its way on YouTube, the dislikes immediately started to pile-up.

I have to say that, while I always hold off any comments until I actually sit down and watch the movie, this time I'm just having a hard time believing that the movie is actually good. Sony has already released two trailers that are substantially different in the featured footage, and yet I couldn't find anything funny in either of them. That's a hard feat to pull off. Everything feels forced. The characters and situations are over-the-top in a way you might expect from a traditional comedy, whereas the original films were sci-fi/fantasy/horror with comedy sprinkled on top. They were pretty dark, but knew how to fit some fun into the genre thrills. I have a very bad feeling about this, and I've liked every single one of Paul Feig's films, so far. On a more positive note, it looks like Chris Hemsworth is going to pretty much steal the show. It also looks like he may turn out to be the film's villain.

Co-written and directed by Paul Feig ("The Heat"), the film stars Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, Chris Hemsworth, Andy Garcia, Michael Kenneth Williams, Matt Walsh, Charles Dance and Cecily Strong

"Ghostbusters" opens in theaters on July 15th.

Watch the trailer and featurette after the jump.
