J.K. Simmons joins Justice League movie
Academy Award winner J.K. Simmons ("Whiplash") has joined the cast of the upcoming "Justice League" movie(s) developed by Warner Bros. Directed by Zack Snyder, the film will bring together DC Comics heroes Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), the Flash (Ezra Miller) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) to battle an unspecified sinister threat.

Simmons will star as Gotham City Police Commissioner James Gordon. The character was previously played by Pat Hingle in Tim Burton's "Batman" movies and Gary Oldman in Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight" trilogy. Simmons is no stranger to the world of comic book adaptations having also played Daily Bugle publisher J. Jonah Jameson in Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man" trilogy.

The script has been written by Chris Terrio ("Argo") and it will be split up into two films, "Justice League: Part One" which is set to open in theaters on November 17, 2017, and "Justice League: Part Two" which will open on June 14, 2019.
