The first trailer, images and posters for the Lance Armstrong biopic "The Program" have been released online. Directed by Stephen Frears ("The Queen"), the film stars Ben Foster as the famous cyclist and it chronicles his battle with cancer and triumphant return to official competitions, followed by the investigation that ultimately resulted in having the Tour de France victories taken away from him.

The script was written by John Hodge ("Trainspotting") based on the book "Seven Deadly Sins" written by Irish sport journalist David Walsh who exposed Armstrong and is played by Chris O'Dowd in the movie. The cast also features Lee Pace, Jesse Plemons, Guillaume Canet, Laura Donnelly and Dustin Hoffman.

"The Program" premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. There is no U.S. release date set. The film opens across Europe throughout October.

"From Academy Award® nominated director Stephen Frears (The Queen, Philomena) and producers Working Title (The Theory Of Everything, Everest, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), comes the true story of the meteoric rise and fall of one of the most celebrated and controversial men in recent history, Lance Armstrong.

Based on the award winning book “Seven Deadly Sins” by David Walsh, and featuring a stellar cast including Ben Foster, Chris O’Dowd, Guillaume Canet (Tell No One) and Jesse Plemons (Breaking Bad), this tense and suspenseful thriller looks at how one of the greatest deceptions in the modern era was uncovered while Armstrong convinced the world he was a hero, winning the Tour de France seven times."
