The first trailer and posters for the drama "The Runner" have been released. Written and directed by Austin Stark, the film stars Nicolas Cage as an idealistic but flawed politician whose life is thrown into turmoil by a sex scandal, but, as the 2010 BP oil spill unfolds, he discovers a new chance for redemption. Honestly, this is the first film in a long time starring Cage that actually shows some promise, assuming everything that should work does eventually work. It could also afford the actor an opportunity to really show off some range, much like he did in the overlooked 2013 drama "Joe". The film also stars Connie Nielsen, Sarah Paulson, Wendell Pierce, Bryan Batt and Peter Fonda
"The Runner" will debut in theaters and on iTunes on August 7th.
