The 40th edition of the César Awards announced its winners and two of them made history. Abderrahmane Sissako became the first African filmmaker to win top honors for his film "Timbuktu", which was also an Academy Award contender for Best Foreign Language Film. "Timbuktu" won seven awards, including Best Movie, Director and Screenplay. Another winner that made history was Kristen Stewart who took home the Best Supporting Actress award for her performance in Olivier Assayas' "Clouds of Sils Maria", becoming the first American actress to win a Cesar.
