The 3D animated feature "The LEGO Movie" turned out to be an even bigger hit than anyone expected. The film outranked four new releases this week and managed to stay in the top spot after 10 days in theaters with $48 million grossed this weekend and $60 million through President's Day, adding up to a total domestic gross of $129 million.
The remake "About Last Night" opened in second place with $30 million grossed in four days versus a budget of $12.5 million. The film's success confirms Kevin Hart's box-office appeal. His other film in the top 10, the action comedy "Ride Along" is starting to wind down, but is still holding on impressively well and has reached a total of $116 million. This weeks's other remake, "RoboCop" failed to impress and ended up grossing $30.2 million in six days. The film cost $100 million to make, but it seems that overseas the sci-fi actioner is doing somewhat better, grossing 69 million in 10 days.
The romantic drama "Endless Love", yet another remake from the 1980s, grossed $15 million and placed fifth in this rather crowded weekend. However, unlike the other new releases of the week, this film opened on Friday, so its only a 3-day gross. The fantasy romance "Winter's Tale" starring Colin Farrell tanked this weekend, grossing 7.7 million in three days.
