X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST - Official Trailer

The time has come to unveil the first trailer for Bryan Singer's sequel/prequel "X-Men: Days of Future Past". And it doesn't disappoint. Singer has said that the visual effects are not finished, so don't expect to see any Sentinels. Anyway, the trailer is pretty amazing, teasing the story, characters and the film's darker tone, with great style and epic use of music. For those wondering (since there are some huge debates online right now), the songs in the trailer are John Murphy's Adagio in D Minor from "Sunshine", in the first half, and Hans Zimmer's Journey to the Line from "The Thin Red Line". The ending also features a short cue from Zimmer's "Inception" soundtrack.

Here's what the plot is all about. Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) gets sent back to 1973 to help stop the rise of the Sentinels, giant robots programmed to exterminate mutants. To accomplish his mission, he will have to join forces with Professor X (James McAvoy), Magneto (Michael Fassbender) and other younger versions of mutants we know and love.

The cast also features Peter Dinklage, Nicholas Hoult, Jennifer Lawrence, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Shawn Ashmore, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Omar Sy and Halle Berry.

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" opens May 23, 2014.

Watch the trailer after the jump.
