Dwayne Johnson to Star in Disaster Film SAN ANDREAS

Dwayne Johnson

Dwayne Johnson ("Fast & Furious 6") will star in the lead role in New Line's earthquake disaster movie "San Andreas". The film will be directed by Brad Peyton ("Journey 2: The Mysterious Island") from a script originally penned by Andre Fabrizio (producer of "I Shouldn't Be Alive" TV series) and Jeremy Passmore ("Red Dawn" remake) and currently rewritten by Chad & Carey Hayes ("The Conjuring").

Dwayne Johnson will play the role of a "rugged rescue helicopter pilot" who embarks on a dangerous trip to rescue his estranged daughter after an earthquake devastates California. "San Andreas" will begin production in April 2014 and is expected to be released sometime in 2015.

Johnson is currently filming James Wan's "Fast & Furious 7" and can also be seen in next year's Brett Ratner epic "Hercules: The Thracian Wars". He is also in negotiations to star in "The Fall Guy", an adaptation based on a 1980s TV series.

Director Brad Peyton is also set to direct the sequel "Journey 3: From the Earth to the Moon" and is currently in the pre-production phase with the 2014 exorcism thriller "Incarnate" which stars Aaron Eckhart and Rosario Dawson.
