Casting for "The Amazing Spider-Man" sequel has begun. The first name to pop-up is that of Shailene Woodley ("The Descendants") who is in early talks to star as Mary Jane Watson (played by Kirsten Dunst in Sam Raimi's trilogy). "Early talks" means that the studio is far from sealing the deal, but she could be an interesting addition to the new series. Also, the studio is apparently looking to cast the role of Harry Osborne, previously played by James Franco. For now the villain has not been officially announced, but rumors seem to indicate Electro as the next Spider-baddie. Director Marc Webb and stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone will return for the sequel which opens on May 2, 2014.
Robert De Niro and Sylvester Stallone are putting on the gloves for a bit of old-school boxing. The veteran actors are set to star in the film "Grudge Match", directed by Peter Segal ("Tommy Boy") and written by Doug Ellin ("Entourage"). Not much else is known about the film except that it follows two retired fighters who sign on for one last match.
The official synopsis for "Thor: The Dark World" has been released. Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman will return for the sequel and will be joined by Christopher Eccleston as Maleketih, the leader of the Dark Elves. The film opens on November 8, 2013. Here is the synopsis :

BAFTA nominee Tom Harper ("The Scouting Book for Boys") has been set to direct the sequel to "The Woman in Black". The film, called "The Woman in Black: Angels of Death" continues the story four decades later. Seized by the government during World War II, the sudden arrival of a group of evacuated children at Eel Marsh House awakens its darkest inhabitant. It has been rumored, but not confirmed so far, that Daniel Radcliffe will reprise his role from the first film.
The female version of "The Expendables" is moving forward. Writers Kirsten Smith & Karen McCullah Lutz ("Legally Blonde", "The House Bunny") will pen the script for Millenium Films' "The ExpendaBelles". The cast, so far, includes Gina Carano (Haywire) and Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica).
The big screen adaptation of the popular videogame franchise "Gears of War" is showing signs of life. Although Len Wiseman ("Underworld") was previously attached to direct and several drafts of the script had been reported, it seems that previous plans will be dropped as Creative Artists Agency is looking for interested producers. The most recent draft, and possibly the one pitched to producers is attributed to Stuart Beattie ("Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides"). It's a very uncertain future for the "Gears of War" film, but it's a positive sign that at least they're still trying to get it made.
Julianne Moore, Scott McNairy ("Killing Them Softly", "Argo") and Michelle Dockery ("Downton Abbey") will join Liam Neeson in the airplane thriller Non-Stop. The film is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and produced by Joel Silver ("Die Hard", "The Matrix"). Neeson stars as a federal air marshal who starts receiving text messages from someone claiming to be on the same flight, and who is threatening to kill its passengers.
