In Theaters : JOURNEY 2: THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND (2012)

Official Synopsis : In this follow-up to the 2008 worldwide hit Journey to the Center of the Earth, the new 3D family adventure Journey 2: The Mysterious Island begins when young Sean Anderson (Josh Hutcherson, reprising his role from the first film) receives a coded distress signal from a mysterious island where no island should exist. It's a place of strange life forms, mountains of gold, deadly volcanoes, and more than one astonishing secret. Unable to stop him from going, Sean's new stepfather, Hank (Dwayne Johnson), joins the quest. Together with a helicopter pilot (Luis Guzman) and his beautiful, strong-willed daughter (Vanessa Hudgens), they set out to find the island, rescue its lone inhabitant and escape before seismic shockwaves force the island under the sea and bury its treasures forever.

Genre: Action, Adventure, Fantasy

Critical Response : Mixed. A crowd-pleasing adventure above anything else, this sequel does not live up to the standards of Jules Verne and relies only on visuals and its charismatic cast to move the formulaic plot forward. And "formulaic" is an overstatement, as the movie is mostly stitched together from various different sources of inspiration. Still, on the 3D-family-adventure level, "Journey 2" delivers on the most superficial level and can be fun if you're only looking for an eye-popping visual experience and nothing more. Don't just check your brain at the door, leave it home altogether. Rated 46% on Rottentomatoes.com from 40 positive and 47 negative reviews (Average Score : 5.1 out of 10).
