Official Synopsis : In The Grey, Liam Neeson leads an unruly group of oil-rig roughnecks when their plane crashes into the remote Alaskan wilderness. Battling mortal injuries and merciless weather, the survivors have only a few days to escape the icy elements - and a vicious pack of rogue wolves on the hunt - before their time runs out.
Genre: Action, Adventure, Drama
Critical Response : Positive. "The Grey" is widely considered to be a return to form for director Joe Carnahan, some comparing it to his highly acclaimed 2002 directorial debut "Narc". Essentially conceived as a gritty survival actioner, it manages to also include philosophical ideas in-between violent wolf attacks and some surprisingly complex characters. Liam Neeson is great in the lead role, as usual. Most of the mixed/negative reviews generally complain that the movie is too artsy for its own good and never quite finds the right balance between action and "Big Ideas". A bit of a warning here, "The Grey" might prove to be too disturbing, both in its depiction of graphic violence and in its deeply depressing mood, so make sure you have the stomach for it, before deciding to go see it. Rated 75% on Rottentomatoes.com from 83 positive and 29 negative reviews (Average Score : 6.6 out of 10).
