Tom Hanks Survives Somali Pirates

But not in real life, though. He will play Captain Richard Phillips in an upcoming film produced by Kevin Spacey and Scott Rudin, based on the true story of the Navy SEAL captain who was taken into captivity by somali pirates in order to spare the crew of Maersk Alabama, a container ship hijacked in 2009. Captain Phillips was rescued after three days from his pirate captors. The movie will be based on Phillips' memoirs "A Captain's Duty : Somali Pirates, Navy SEALs, and Dangerous Days at Sea", and will be adapted by Billy Ray ("State of Play"). It's nice that Hanks is starting work again. A slew of projects have been announced in the media these days.
