"Motherland" is a dystopian drama directed by Evan Matthews in his feature directorial debut from a script by Nicole Swinford. The film is set in an alternate present society where the state frees parents from the burden of raising children, and it follows a rule enforcer who learns a shocking truth that sparks her rebellion.

The cast includes Miriam Silverman, Holland Taylor, Nestor Carbonell, Emily Arancio, Molly Hager and Doug Harris. The film was released in select theaters and via streaming on September 12, 2025.

"In the Motherland, state-run children’s centers raise all citizens, ensuring a fair upbringing and freeing parents from child-rearing burdens. This seemingly utopian system turns into a nightmare for a Motherland enforcer (Miriam Silverman) who uncovers the true identity of a young woman (Emily Arancio) in her care. Defying the system she once upheld, she risks everything to save her- that is, if the Motherland doesn’t stop her first. Also starring Nestor Carbonell and Holland Taylor."
