Kyle Chandler In Talks To Star In DC's LANTERNS Series For HBO

Kyle Chandler To Star In Dc Lanterns Series For Hbo

Emmy winner Kyle Chandler ("Friday Night Lights", "Bloodline") is in negotiations to star in HBO's upcoming comic book series "Lanterns" based on the Green Lantern DC comic. Sources say that Chandler will be playing Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern character played by Ryan Reynolds in the 2011 movie.

The series hails from "Ozark" producer/writer Chris Mundy, "Lost" writer Damon Lindelof, and comic book writer Tom King, and it follows new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Jordan, two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, Earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland. The search for an actor to play Stewart is ongoing.

The eight-episode "Lanterns" series is produced by HBO in association with Warner Bros Television and DC Studios. Mundy will serve as showrunner, and also write alongside Lindelof and King. All three are also executive producing. The project, which received a straight-to-series order in June, marks one of the first titles to come out of the revamped DC Studios.

DC Studios co-chairmen and co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran said the following: "John Stewart and Hal Jordan are two of DC's most compelling characters, and Lanterns brings them to life in an original detective story that is a foundational part of the unified DCU we're launching next summer with Superman".

Chandler can next be seen in "Back in Action" and "Anniversary".
