Weekend Box-Office: KUNG FU PANDA 4 Continues to Dominate DUNE: PART TWO

Weekend Box Office Kung Fu Panda 4 Dune Part Two

The animated sequel "Kung Fu Panda 4" once again defeated the sci-fi sequel "Dune: Part Two". Meanwhile, the only new wide release, the adventure film "Arthur the King" starring Mark Wahlberg, underperformed at the weekend box-office.

"Kung Fu Panda 4" finished its sophomore weekend in first place with $30 million, down 48.3% from its solid debut. The film's domestic tally has reached $107.7 million, while overseas it adds another $68.7 million overseas for a worldwide total of $176.4 million.

"Dune: Part Two" is holding in second place with $29.1 million, down 37% from the previous frame. The film has now crossed the $200 million domestically, raking in $205.3 million. It also grossed $289.4 million internationally, which brings the global cume to $494.7 million.

"Arthur the King" opened in third place with a weak $7.5 million from 3,003 theaters. The film was project to debut with around $10 million. In Canada the film did not release in theaters, and is scheduled for a Prime Video debut at a later date. "Arthur the King" received mixed reviews from critics (63% on Rotten Tomatoes), but moviegoers generally liked it ("A" CinemaScore).

The horror film "Imaginary" finished in fourth place with $5.6 million, a 43.5% decline from its debut. The film has grossed a total of $19 million in North America and $2.7 million overseas.

The Top 5 is rounded out by the faith-based biopic "Cabrini" with $2.8 million, which brings the total cume to $13 million.

In other news, A24's "Love Lies Bleeding" made its debut at #6 with $2.4 million from 1,362 theaters, the British biopic "One Life" starring Anthony Hopkins opened in eight place with 1.7 million from 983 theaters, and "The American Society of Magical Negroes" tanked with $1.2 million from 1,147 theaters.
