"American Gigolo" is a drama series created by David Hollander ("Ray Donovan") based on the 1980 film written and directed by Paul Schrader and starring Richard Gere. The show stars Jon Bernthal as Julian Kaye, the character played by Gere in the original film, who is released from prison after serving 15 years for a murder he did not commit, and is now struggling to find his footing in the modern-day Los Angeles sex industry while navigating his complicated relationships. The cast also includes Gretchen Mol, Rosie O'Donnell, Lizie Brochere, Wayne Brady, Gabriel LaBelle, Sandrine Holt and Leland Orser. The series premiered on September 11, 2022 on Showtime.
