But when artist Vanessa Ritchie (played by the original supermodel, Jean Shrimpton) is hired to paint his portrait, she discovers that he is unhappy and unstable. When matters take a devious twist, Steve rebels in a startling manner. Brilliantly shot in pseudo-documentary style by Oscar-winning director Peter Watkins (The War Game, Punishment Park) and acclaimed cinematographer Peter Suschitzky (The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Eastern Promises), this darkly comic satire offers a caustic critique of ’60s pop culture and corporate control.
