Universal's sci-fi horror film "The Invisible Man" is this week's only new wide release, and it's expected to score big at the box-office. The film is a reboot of the 1933 Universal classic, and it was originally supposed to be part of the studio's Dark Universe of reboots, but that plan fell through when the 2017 film "The Mummy" tanked. Starring Elisabeth Moss, the Blumhouse production has already raked in $1.65 million from previews and could finish the weekend with as much as $28-30 million from 3,610 theaters.
We also have an interesting roster of limited releases like the true story drama "Burden" starring Garrett Hedlund and Forest Whitaker, John Turturro's crime comedy "The Jesus Rolls", which is a "Big Lebowski" spin-off of sorts, and the fantasy drama "Wendy", a Peter Pan reimagining from filmmaker Benh Zeitlin ("Beasts of the Southern Wild").

BURDEN
Official Synopsis
When a museum celebrating the Ku Klux Klan opens in a small South Carolina town, the idealistic Reverend Kennedy (Academy Award (R)-winner Forest Whitaker) resolves to do everything in his power to prevent long-simmering racial tensions from boiling over. But the members of Kennedy's congregation are shocked to discover that his plan includes sheltering Mike Burden (Garrett Hedlund), a Klansman whose relationships with both a single-mother (Andrea Riseborough) and a high-school friend (Usher Raymond) force him to re-examine his long-held beliefs. After Kennedy helps Mike leave behind his violent past, the Baptist preacher finds himself on a collision course with manipulative KKK leader Tom Griffin (Tom Wilkinson). In the face of grave threats to himself and his family, the resolute Kennedy bravely pursues a path toward peace, setting aside his own misgivings in the hopes of healing his wounded community. From Oscar (R)-nominated filmmaker Robbie Brenner (Dallas Buyers Club) and writer/director Andrew Heckler comes this dramatic true story of compassion and grace in the American South.

Hours after being released from prison for good behavior, Jesus Quintana (John Turturro) reunites with his best friend and fellow underachiever Petey (Bobby Cannavale). In the first in a series of rapidly escalating bad decisions, they steal a vintage car parked in front of an upscale salon and hit the road for a no-holds-barred joyride -- until the car's gun-toting owner (Jon Hamm) catches up with them, wounding Petey. Fleeing the scene with fiercely free-spirited shampooist Marie (Audrey Tautou), Jesus and Petey continue their adventure in a series of stolen cars, cementing their partnership with an epic petty-crime spree and a three-way romance. A darkly funny, irreverent and freewheeling road movie, The Jesus Rolls is written and directed by Emmy (R) winner and nominee John Turturro and pays tribute to the classic French farce Les Valseuses.
