In Theaters: THE CALL OF THE WILD, THE BOY 2, EMMA and SEBERG

Disney's release of 20th Century Fox's "The Call of the Wild" is this weekend's high profile release, but it won't be able to take down "Sonic the Hedgehog", which is poised to top the box-office charts for a second consecutive weekend. The family adventure film is an adaptation of Jack London's classic novel of the same name, and it stars Harrison Ford and a CGI dog. By the way, the CGI has been one of the main points of contention among critics and moviegoers, but probably not the main reason the film isn't going to make a ton of money.

"The Call of the Wild" has been getting mixed reviews from critics and started out its theatrical run with $1 million from previews. The film is expected to finish the weekend with around $15-17 million from 3,752 theaters, which is comparable to similar films like "A Dog's Way Home" ($11 million) and "A Dog's Purpose" ($18 million). Except "The Call of the Wild" has a budget estimated at around $150 million, so that's not very good. "A Dog's Way Home" cost only $18 million to produce and "A Dog's Purpose" had a $22 million price tag.

Another new wide release is the PG-13 horror film "Brahms: The Boy II", the sequel to the 2016 film starring Lauren Cohan that grossed $74.1 million worldwide against a $10 million budget. While the first film opened with $10.7 million, the sequel is looking at a $5-6 million opening weekend from 2,151 theaters.

In limited release, it might be worth checking out the Jane Austen adaptation "Emma." starring Anya Taylor-Joy, and the biographical thriller "Seberg" starring Kristen Stewart.

Synopses, details, critical/audience reception, trailers, and more after the jump.
