In Theaters: BIRDS OF PREY, THE LODGE and AND THEN WE DANCED

The DC Comics movie "Birds of Prey" is the only new wide release this week and it will probably be the first film to take down "Bad Boys for Life" from the #1 spot since that film opened in theaters three weeks ago. Starring Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, the character introduced to the DC Extended Universe in 2016's "Suicide Squad", the film has raked in $4 million from Thursday previews, which is pretty modest, compared to "Shazam", which scored 5.9 million. Warner Bros. is expecting a 3-day debut of $40-45 million from 4,236 theaters.

In limited release it might be worth checking out the horror film "The Lodge" starring Riley Keough, Jaeden Martell, Alicia Silverstone and Richard Armitage, or the Swedish-Georgian drama "And Then We Danced".

Synopses, details, critical/audience reception, trailers, and more after the jump.

You ever hear the one about the cop, the songbird, the psycho and the mafia princess? "Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)" is a twisted tale told by Harley herself, as only Harley can tell it. When Gotham's most nefariously narcissistic villain, Roman Sionis, and his zealous right-hand, Zsasz, put a target on a young girl named Cass, the city is turned upside down looking for her. Harley, Huntress, Black Canary and Renee Montoya's paths collide, and the unlikely foursome have no choice but to team up to take Roman down.
