In Theaters: TERMINATOR DARK FATE, MOTHERLESS BROOKLYN, ARCTIC DOGS and HARRIET

The sci-fi blockbuster "Terminator: Dark Fate" is now in theaters and ready to take over the box-office. Well, at least in theory. The film isn't doing so well domestically, and it looks like it might finish its opening weekend with less than $30 million from 4,086 theaters after raking in $2.3 million from Thursday night previews, and some predict it might end up with less than the debut of "Terminator Genisys" in 2015 ($27 million). The film has received a mixed-to-negative reception from critics and CinemaScore reports a decent "B+" grade from its opening night polls.

A new semi-wide release worth checking out is the neo-noir crime drama "Motherless Brooklyn" written, produced, and directed by Edward Norton, that features a stellar ensemble cast which includes Norton, Alec Baldwin, Bruce Willis and Willem Dafoe. The film is based on the 1999 novel of the same name by Jonathan Lethem. Opening in 1,332 theaters, the film is expected to finish the weekend outside the Top 10 with around $2 million. The critical reception has been mixed.

Other wide release are the animated film "Arctic Dogs", and the historical biopic "Harriet". The former has opened in 2,844 theaters, but its box-office prospects are limited to an estimated $5 million debut, while the latter is probably going rake in around $8 million over the weekend from 2,086 theaters. "Arctic Dogs" has received a "B-" from CinemaScore, and "Harriet" an impressive "A+".

More than two decades have passed since Sarah Connor prevented Judgment Day, changed the future, and re-wrote the fate of the human race. Dani Ramos (Natalia Reyes) is living a simple life in Mexico City with her brother (Diego Boneta) and father when a highly advanced and deadly new Terminator -- a Rev-9 (Gabriel Luna) -- travels back through time to hunt and kill her.
