This week we have only one new wide release in theaters, and that is the DreamWorks Animation and Pearl Studio film "Abominable". In case you're wondering, Pearl Studio, formerly known as Shanghai Oriental DreamWorks Film & Television Technology Co., is a Chinese-American joint venture company founded in 2012 that produces mostly Chinese-themed animated and live-action films.

"Abominable" has received a warm reception from both critics and moviegoers ("A" grade from CinemaScore's polls), and it's expected to top the weekend box-office with around $20 million from 4,242 theaters. The film already delivered $650,000 from Thursday previews and grossed $5.69 million on Friday.

In limited release definitely check out the Judy Garland biopic "Judy" starring Renee Zellweger, whose performance has been met with universal acclaim and is getting lots of Oscars buzz.

Other noteworthy releases in select theaters are the dark comedies "The Day Shall Come" starring Marchant Davis and Anna Kendrick, and "The Death of Dick Long".

Synopses, details, critical/audience reception, trailers, and more after the jump.
