With "Spider-Man: Far From Home" and "Toy Story" ready to dominate the box-office once again, this weekend we find studios offering a bit of counterprogramming. The first new film is Disney's release of Fox's R-rated action comedy "Stuber" starring Dave Bautista and Kumail Nanjiani, which brought in $750,000 from previews, and is expected to end the weekend with around $7 million from 3,050 theaters.

The other new wide release is the R-rated alligator horror film "Crawl" directed by Alexandre Aja ("The Hills Have Eyes") and produced by Sam Raimi ("Evil Dead", "Spider-Man"). The film raked in $1 million from Thursday night previews, and it could bring in as much as $13 million in its opening weekend from 3,1701 theaters.

In limited release we have some interesting choices, like the dramedy "The Farewell" starring Awkwafina, and the offbeat dark comedy "The Art of Self-Defense" starring Jesse Eisenberg, Alessandro Nivola and Imogen Poots.

Synopses, details, critical/audience reception, trailers, and more after the jump.
