The highly anticipated "Captain Marvel" is now in theaters and aiming to shake up things at the box-office as the first months of 2019 have been pretty slow. The 21st installment in the MCU stars Brie Larson and introduces a new character, 20 years before Thanos snapped his fingers. The film has already delivered $20.7 million from Thursday night previews and is headed towards a $170 million weekend debut.

With a Marvel flick out in theaters this weekend, there are nothing but limited releases left as an alternative. The first noteworthy release is J.C. Chandor's Netflix action thriller "Triple Frontier" starring Ben Affleck, Oscar Isaac, Charlie Hunnam, Garrett Hedlund and Pedro Pascal. We also have Vincent D'Onofrio's western "The Kid" starring Ethan Hawke, Dane DeHaan and Chris Pratt, as well as "A Fantastic Woman" helmer Sebastián Lelio's drama "Gloria Bell", which stars Julianne Moore and John Turturro.

Synopses, details, critical/audience reception, trailers, and more after the jump.
