Product Description: It's not easy being queen, as young Victoria (Jenna Coleman) quickly learns upon her ascension, at the age of 18, to the throne of England following the death of her uncle in 1837. First, she has to stand up to her mother (Catherine Flemming) and Sir John Conroy (Paul Rhys. Then, she upsets her subjects when they learn that she spread an ugly rumor about her mother's lady-in-waiting. As the season progresses, she also helps usher in a new government after the sitting prime minister resigns; defends her ladies in waiting; and, at the behest of her mother and Sir John, begins a search for a husband. Her selection, however, doesn't sit well with Parliament; and her choice has doubts of his own, as well, due to the financial arrangement she offers him. Marriage, pregnancy and more political clashes follow--as does the unthinkable: an assassination attempt.
