Two new wide releases have joined the busy Christmas race at the box-office. The first is the comedy "Holmes & Watson" starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly, which has some of the weakest reviews of any film this year. Both critics and moviegoers pretty much hate this one, and while the film managed to rake in $6.4 million on Christmas Day, its prospects for the weekend aren't good.
The other new wide release is Adam McKay's awards contender "Vice", a satirical biopic starring Christian Bale as Dick Cheney. The film managed to divide critics and audiences, so it might not bring in as much money as McKay's "The Big Short", despite earning six Golden Globe nominations. The film opened with $4.8 million on Christmas Day.
In limited release it might be worth checking out the crime drama "Destroyer" which earned Nicole Kidman a Golden Globe nomination, and the biopic "Stan & Ollie", for which John C. Reilly received a Golden Globe nod.
