"Loving Pablo" is a crime biopic written and directed by Fernando León de Aranoa ("A Perfect Day") based on Virginia Vallejo's memoir "Loving Pablo, Hating Escobar". The film chronicles the rise and fall of infamous drug lord Pablo Escobar (Javier Bardem) and his volatile love affair with Colombia's most famous journalist Virginia Vallejo (Penélope Cruz).

The film also stars Peter Sarsgaard, Julieth Restrepo, David Valencia and Giselle Da Silva. Bardem and Cruz were both nominated for the Goya Awards of 2018.

"Loving Pablo" was screened out of competition in the 74th Venice International Film Festival and the Special Presentations section at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival. It opened in theaters in Spain on March 9, 2018 and in select theaters in the U.S. on October 5, 2018. The film has received mostly negative reviews from critics.
