In Theaters: UPGRADE, ADRIFT, ACTION POINT and AMERICAN ANIMALS

The Blumhouse sci-fi horror "Upgrade" from writer/director Leigh Whannell makes its blood-soaked debut this weekend and the film has received a lot of positive attention from critics. Another film worth checking out is the shipwreck-at-sea drama "Adrift" inspired by a true story, which stars Shailene Woodley and Sam Claflin. And if you're in the mood for something a bit more outrageous, try the R-rated comedy "Action Point" starring Johnny Knoxville. In limited release, you should definitely check out the fact-based heist dramedy "American Animals".

After his wife is killed during a brutal mugging that also leaves him paralyzed, Grey Trace (Logan Marshall Green, SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING, PROMETHEUS) is approached by a billionaire inventor with an experimental cure that will "upgrade" his body. The cure - an Artificial Intelligence implant called STEM - gives Grey physical abilities beyond anything experienced and the ability to relentlessly claim vengeance against those who murdered his wife and left him for dead.
