The animated movie "Sherlock Gnomes" is a sequel to 2011's "Gnomeo and Juliet". Directed by John Stevenson ("Kung Fu Panda"), the new installment finds garden gnomes Gnomeo (James McAvoy) and Juliet (Emily Blunt) confronted with the mysterious disappearances of fellow gnomes. To help them solve the mystery they recruit renowned detective Sherlock Gnomes (Johnny Depp). The film also features the voices of Chiwetel Ejiofor, Mary J. Blige, Michael Caine, Maggie Smith, Ashley Jensen, Matt Lucas, Julie Walters, Ozzy Osbourne and Stephen Merchant.

"Sherlock Gnomes" opened in theaters on March 23, 2018 in the U.S. and received mostly negative reviews. It will be released in the U.K. on May 11, 2018. It only managed to gross $10.6 million in its United States and Canada opening weekend.

"When Gnomeo and Juliet first arrive in the city with their friends and family, their biggest concern is getting their new garden ready for spring. However, they soon discover that someone is kidnapping garden gnomes all over London. When Gnomeo and Juliet return home to find that everyone in their garden is missing there's only one gnome to call SHERLOCK GNOMES. The famous detective and sworn protector of London's garden gnomes arrives with his sidekick Watson to investigate the case. The mystery will lead our gnomes on a rollicking adventure where they will meet all new ornaments and explore an undiscovered side of the city."
