The comedy "The Polka King" focuses on the real-life story of Polish-American polka band leader Jan Lewan (Jack Black), also known as the "King of Pennsylvania Polka", who shocked everyone when it was revealed that he had been running a multi-million-dollar Ponzi scheme. The film's inspiration is the 2009 documentary "The Man Who Would Be Polka King" directed by Joshua Brown and John Mikulak.

Directed by Maya Forbes ("Infinitely Polar Bear") from a script by Forbes and Wallace Wolodarsky ("A Dog's Purpose"), the film also stars Jenny Slate, Jason Schwartzman, Jacki Weaver, J.B. Smoove and Vanessa Bayer

"The Polka King" premiered at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival and was released on Netflix on January 12, 2018. It received mixed reviews from critics.
