"Darkest Hour" is a biopic directed by Joe Wright ("Atonement") from a script by Anthony McCarten ("The Theory of Everything") that chronicles the struggles of newly-appointed British Prime Minister Winston Churchill (Gary Oldman) as he is faced with the ultimate choice: negotiate with Hitler and save the British people at a terrible cost or rally the nation and fight on against incredible odds.

The film also stars Kristin Scott Thomas, Ben Mendelsohn, Lily James, Stephen Dillane and Ronald Pickup.

"Darkest Hour" premiered at the Telluride Film Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival in September, and received positive reviews, especially for Oldman's towering performance. The veteran actor is considered a frontrunner for the upcoming Academy Awards. The film opened in select theaters on November 22nd, 2017 and will expand nationwide on December 22, 2017. It will also be released in the U.K. on January 12, 2018.

The new Amazon series "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" is a dramedy from "Gilmore Girls" creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, and it tells the story of Miriam "Midge" Maisel, a young Jewish housewife (Rachel Brosnahan) who suddenly finds herself a single mother after her husband leaves her for another woman, and discovers a previously unknown talent - one that changes her life forever.

The cast also includes Tony Shalhoub, Marin Hinkle, Michael Zegen, Alex Borstein, Bailey De Young and Kevin Pollack.

The pilot episode of "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" was released on March 17, 2017 and received a positive reception from both critics and audiences, and the series was picked up for two seasons. The first season has been released today, November 29, 2017.

Directed by Bharat Nalluri ("Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day"), the biopic "The Man Who Invented Christmas" is an adaptation of Les Standiford' novel "The Man Who Invented Christmas: How Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol Rescued His Career and Revived Our Holiday Spirits", and it tells the story of how Charles Dickens (Dan Stevens) created the timeless holiday classic "A Christmas Carol", inspired by his own father (Christopher Plummer).

The film also stars Jonathan Pryce, Morfydd Clark, Simon Callow, Miriam Margolyes and Ian McNeice.

"The Man Who Invented Christmas" opened in select theaters on November 22nd, 2017. It received mostly positive reviews, praising the film's revisionist look at a classic story and the strong cast.

"Coco" is a new animated film from Pixar and Disney, and the former's 19th full-length feature. The film is directed by Lee Unkrich ("Toy Story 3"), based on his own original idea, and Adrian Molina. It is the first film ever made with an all-Latino cast to have a $200 million budget.

The story follows a 12-year-old aspiring musician (Anthony Gonzalez) who is confronted with his family's ancestral ban on music. He finds himself in the Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events and proceeds to unravel the mystery of his family's history. The voice cast also includes Gael Garcia Bernal, Benjamin Bratt, Alanna Ubach, Edward James Olmos, Cheech Marin, Jaime Camill, Alfonso Arau and Gabriel Iglesias.

"Coco" premiered on November 22nd, 2017 and received universal praise from critics. The film has been ranked among the best of Pixar's portfolio, a success they clearly needed after recent lackluster films. It also placed first at the box-office during its Thanksgiving holiday weekend debut, grossing $49 million in the three-day timeframe and $71.1 million in the five days since its release.

The show, a present-day update, follows Brooklyn artist Nola Darling (DeWanda Wise) as she struggles to balance her work, friends and three lovers, played by Cleo Anthony, Lyriq Bent and Anthony Ramos.

The cast also includes Margot Bingham, Kim Director, Sydney Morton, Chyna Layne, Ilfenesh Hadera and Elise Hudson.

"She's Gotta Have It" premiered its entire first season on November 23rd, 2017 via Netflix.

The film also stars Colin Farrell, Carmen Ejogo, Amanda Warren, and Hugo Armstrong.

"Roman J. Israel, Esq." opened in limited release on November 17th, 2017 and will expand nationwide on November 22nd. It received mixed reviews from critics who praised Washington's complex performance, but criticized the film for being a heavy-handed genre exercise that doesn't do justice to its promising character exploration.
