The Canadian horror film "The Void" is a hardcore 1980s nostalgia trip in the vein of John Carpenter's classic pictures, and it follows a police officer (Aaron Poole) who tries to protect a group of people inside a hospital from hooded cultists and all kinds of horrible creatures.

The film was written and directed by Jeremy Gillespie and Steven Kostanski, and it also stars Kenneth Welsh, Kathleen Munroe, Daniel Fathers, Ellen Wong, Mik Byskov and Stephanie Belding.

"The Void" opened in select theaters on April 7th, 2015 after first premiering at Fantastic Fest on September 22, 2016. Reviews for the film have been generally positive.

SYNOPSIS

"When police officer Carter (Aaron Poole) discovers a blood-soaked man limping down a deserted road, he rushes him to a local hospital with a barebones, night shift staff. As cloaked, cult-like figures surround the building, the patients and staff inside start to turn ravenously insane. Trying to protect the survivors, Carter leads them into the depths of the hospital where they discover a gateway to immense evil."
