The first trailer and poster for the horror film "The Witch" have been released. Written and directed by Robert Eggers, the film takes place in 1630 New England and it follows a small family that begins to unravel, turning against each other, when their newborn son mysteriously vanishes and their crops fail. The film won the Directing Award and was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. The cast features Anya Taylor-Joy, Ralph Ineson, Katie Dickie, Harvey Scrimshaw, Lucas Dawson, and Ellie Grainger
"The Witch" will open in theaters sometime in 2016.

Official Synopsis
"New England, 1630: William and Katherine lead a devout Christian life, homesteading on the edge of an impassible wilderness, with five children. When their newborn son mysteriously vanishes and their crops fail, the family begins to turn on one another. 'The Witch' is a chilling portrait of a family unraveling within their own fears and anxieties, leaving them prey for an inescapable evil."
