Teaser Trailer and Poster for THE PURGE: ANARCHY

The first trailer and poster for "The Purge: Anarchy" have been released. James DeMonaco returns to write and direct the sequel which trades the home-invasion routine for a more straightforward action set-up. The plot focuses on a young couple who fight to survive on the streets after their car breaks down right as the Annual Purge is about to begin.

While the premise sounds a bit silly, it could prove to be superior to the first film. Although I enjoyed the first film, despite its obvious faults, I always felt that it could have been much more interesting if they would have explored the concept of the Purge on the streets rather than in the confined space of a house. So, the sequel might just work better, but only if DeMonaco learned from the mistakes of the original.

The film stars Frank Grillo, Michael K. Williams, Zach Gilford, Kiele Sanchez and Carmen Ejogo.

"The Purge: Anarchy" opens in theaters on June 20th.
