The first movie clip for the Princess Diana biopic "Diana" has been released. Directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel ("Downfall"), the film focuses on the last two years of Princess Diana's (Naomi Watts) life, particularly her campaign against land mines and her relationship with heart surgeon Hasnat Khan (Naveen Andrews).
The film has been released in theaters, but it's only a limited run. The critics have not been enjoying the biopic, and although most of them praise Watts and Andrews' performances, the consensus is that it's a bland, clumsily directed film that resembles a TV production and does nothing but take advantage of Princess Diana's popularity. One critic says that the film "carries with it the whiff of Harlequin, the mouldy and tired air of a cottage paperback left on the dock." Richard Roeper called the film "one big missed opportunity". "Diana" is currently rated 9% on Rottentomatoes.com from 7 positive and 72 negative reviews.
